Apply for a US Passport

Whether you are applying for a US Passport for the first time or renewing your passport, you must choose to expedite the process.

You can apply for a US Passport Book or renew your passport via the US Department of State. Please note that there are now two types of passports: a passport book and a passport card. For travel to Niger, you must have a passport book.

• If this is your first time applying for a passport, you will fill out and print the completed form, and apply in person at a Passport Acceptance Facility with the necessary supporting documentation as instructed by the US Department of State.
• If you are renewing your passport, you will fill out and print the completed form, and mail the form with the necessary supporting documentation to the appropriate location as instructed by the US Department of State Passport Renewal.

You may check the status of your application using one of the following methods:

2. Emailing your request for a status check to the National Passport Information Center.
3. Contacting the National Passport Information Center, toll-free, at 1-877-487-2778, from 7:00 a.m. to midnight, Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays, to speak with a Customer Service Representatives.
